pillar of strength
A pillar is defined as a tall vertical structure used as support. A pillar of strength is someone or something that gives support or help during difficult times. When we are grieving it is essential that we find ways to reach out for support. Sometimes this support can come from outside of us in others, like a grief counselor or another grieving person, or a grief support group. But, many times this support can come from within, if we choose to do the work of healing. When we remember that love remains everlasting, even after a loved one is gone and we can remember with more love than pain, we can find strength. While we may grieve their physical absence immensely, the truth is that the love we shared continues to exist within us. We can carry that love as we cope with the loss, holding it close to our hearts as our own pillar of strength in our healing process. Knowing our loved ones are still very much connected to us can help us recognize the enduring bond that transcends the physical separation. So as you go about in your own grieving process, remember to look for ways to lean on your own loved one for a continued connection to be your pillar of strength.
